
Rev. Roger is the proud father of two sons, one daughter, two grandsons, and five granddaughters. He is a renowned gospel recording artist, composer, and educator whose influence spans music, ministry, and community leadership. Between 1986 and 1994, he recorded more than 15 albums and wrote over 150 songs, many of which continue to shape gospel music today.
His most recognized composition, “I’m Determined,” has been recorded by Tony McGill and the Gospel Music Workshop of Los Angeles, Dr. Margaret P. Douroux and the Heritage Mass Choir, Dorinda Clark-Cole, and most recently, Bemeche Hicks and Dorothy Norwood. Rev. Roger has also sung alongside respected artists including Roslyn Graham, Mary Love-Comer, Kenny Smith, Rodena Preston, and Reverend James Cleveland.
Beyond music, Rev. Roger is a playwright who has written more than ten short plays, including Love Flight 25, The Bride-Groom Is Here, House on the Hill, and Can I Get a Witness? His academic background includes earned degrees in child development, psychology, and education, culminating in a Doctor of Education. The late Bishop I. F. Rowe affectionately named him “The Preacher With a Golden Voice.”
As Interim Senior Pastor at Unity Fellowship of Christ Church Los Angeles, Rev. Roger’s ministry emphasizes pastoral care, social justice, and inclusive leadership. He provides guidance to Seniors Ministry (50+), Singles Ministry (17+), and Transgender Ministry. When asked how he wishes to be remembered, Rev. Roger simply states:
“Remember me as a man that loved the Lord.”
